Participants - Jo March

Screen Name: Jo March

Crocheting or Knitting: Crocheting (I knit too, but I'm afraid it would take too long, and I want to try my new crocheting skills! ;))

Years of Experience: With crocheting, only 2 months

Name of Pattern: Using the "Ripple Stitch" and customizing it to fit the proper size

Designer: Of the "Ripple Stitch": ? Of my specific blanket: me! ; )

Fun Fact about yourself: One of my New Years resolutions is to dress more like Rose Brier (that is, modest, feminine and rather flamboyant, though with my own specific flavor) and to do at least one "vintage Cor" thing a day. Don't know what I am talking about? Read "Waking Rose" by Regina Doman! ; )

  1. *scratches head* Can we post updates on our progress here?

    Hmm...well I'm going to! Hope that's alright!

I got started a few days late, so my progress is very slow at this point. And my gauge is a little off, so it is actually 65" wide instead of 61" *sighs* Oh well!

But for a bit of fun, I decided to sort of "choose yarn as I go." I am going to need 12 skeins for my blanket, and I have purchased 4 skeins (2 each of 2 colors). When I use them up, then I'll go back to the store and get whatever strikes my fancy at the time...whether it be more of the same colors, or new colors entirely. Kind of adds an element of surprise.

  3. Mine is still growing very slowly...I haven't had as much time for it as I thought I might.
At this point it just looks like a very wide scarf.

    *scurries off to continue crocheting*

  4. Progress! Not as much as I'd like, but progress none the less. I just finished my third skein of yarn and the blanket is about a foot and a half long. At least it is starting to look like a blanket! ;)

  5. *sighs* Not sure I'm going to finish it in time...oh well. I'm still going to finish it though! I'm really starting to like the way it looks.

  6. Well it is over. I did not quite finish, but it was fun all the same! It currently is about 65" by 28" and I've used 3 1/2 skeins so far. I don't think I am now going to make it to the guideline dimensions, but rather just finish it up with the yarn I have (4 more skeins). That would bring it to about 65" by 56 or so inches and 8 stripes with 4 colors. I do really like it so far, and can't wait until it is finished - I ended up using homespun yarn which is really cuddly and warm.

I'll post a picture when I get a chance. Can't wait to see everyone else's projects!
